Governor Snyder's Road Plan is Highway Robbery
“Governor Snyder’s road plan can be summed up in two words, Highway Robbery!” said Wes Nakagiri of RetakeOurGov.
In his State of the State address, Governor Snyder outlined his plan for fixing Michigan’s roads. His plan includes increasing taxes by $1.2 billion/year for road repair and another $700 million/year tax increase for non-road related spending.
Commenting further on the Governor’s speech, Nakagiri said, “What he said during his speech was interesting, however, what was more interesting is what he didn’t say. The Governor failed to mention that under his watch spending has already increased by $4.7 billion/year, yet he claims he can't find $1.2 billion for the roads. He also failed to mention that his proposed 16.7% increase in the sales tax saddles hard-working Michigan taxpayers with the 2nd highest state sales tax in the nation. We can do without Snyder’s relentless positive action if it means he is relentlessly dipping into our wallets.”
