The TEA Parties groups sponsoring this dinner were Brighton TEA Party, Lakes Area TEA Party, Lapeer County TEA Party, Rattle With Us, RetakeOurGov, Southwest Michigan TEA Party, TEA Party Patriots of West Oakland County, and Willow Run TEA Party

The two media releases below describe the dinner and how it came into being.

TEA PARTY ANNOUNCES 1st ANNUAL MADISON-HAMILTON DINNER
Fox News Political Commentator Dick Morris and Former Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop (R) to Address Event

TEA Party groups from across Michigan announce the 1st Annual Madison-Hamilton Dinner.  TEA Party activists welcome Michigan citizens for food and fellowship as they welcome noted author and Fox News political commentator Dick Morris as the keynote speaker.  Mr. Morris will provide his insight on the upcoming 2012 elections.  In addition to Mr. Morris, former Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop (R) will address this premiere event.

This dinner celebrates the principles of constitutionally-limited government as envisioned by James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, two strong advocates of individual freedom and personal accountability.

“The TEA Party is fortunate to have Dick Morris as our keynote speaker after Governor Snyder’s office disinvited him from a prior speaking engagement,” said Wes Nakagiri, of RetakeOurGov.  Mr. Morris had been scheduled to speak at an 11th Congressional District Republican Party function.  Nakagiri added, “My sources tell me that Mr. Morris was disinvited due to his opposition to the Governor’s proposal to build a costly new government-run bridge along with an accompanying bureaucracy.  It is disappointing to see the Governor resort to Lansing-insider tactics to keep citizens from hearing both sides of the bridge story.”

The dinner is being held at the Mystic Creek Golf Course in Milford, MI on June 9, 2011 from 6:30 till 9:00.  Additional details including on-line purchasing information and directions are available at www.RattleWithUs.com.  Tickets are $35 per person.  All proceeds are being donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund.

The organizing committee for this event includes:  Brighton TEA Party, Lakes Area TEA Party, Lapeer County Tea Party, Rattle With Us, RetakeOurGov, Southwest Michigan Tea Party, Tea Party Patriots of West Oakland County, and Willow Run TEA Party.

Proceeds from Political Fundraiser Donated to Charities
Michigan TEA Party Groups Support Our Troops

A coalition of TEA Party groups from across Michigan announces that all proceeds from its 1st Annual Madison-Hamilton Dinner are being donated to charity.

The coalition, consisting of Brighton TEA Party, Lakes Area TEA Party, Lapeer County TEA Party, Rattle With Us, RetakeOurGov, Southwest Michigan TEA Party, TEA Party Patriots of West Oakland County, and Willow Run TEA Party, will donate $3200 to the Wounded Warrior Foundation and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund.

A sell-out crowd of over 300 attended the June 9th event in Milford, Michigan.  The keynote speaker, Dick Morris, Fox News Political Commentator, signed copies of his new book “Revolt!: How to Defeat Obama and Repeal His Socialist Programs.”  During his address he provided his thoughts about the 2012 Presidential Election along with his insight regarding Governor Snyder’s proposed new state-owned bridge.

“Mr. Morris became available for the TEA Party Dinner after his speaking engagement at a Republican Party function was nixed by the Governor,” said Wes Nakagiri of RetakeOurGov.  Mr. Morris has been an outspoken opponent of the Governor’s plan to spend taxpayer dollars on building and operating a state-owned bridge when the existing Ambassador Bridge operates at about 50-60% capacity.  “I think the Governor’s attempt to stifle free speech backfired,” said Gene Clem of Southwest Michigan TEA Party Patriots.

In addition to the TEA Party, the two selected charities benefited from Governor Snyder’s edict that Mr. Morris not be allowed to speak at the Republican Party fundraiser.  “Especially in these tough economic times we very much appreciate the contributions from the Madison-Hamilton Dinner,” said Frank Campanaro of the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, a charitable foundation based in Livonia, Michigan.
